ABOUT THE PROJECT
Among the most important fisheries in terms of catches is that of small pelagic fish (337,053Tm) which is mainly destined for human consumption and reduction, tuna (286,946Tm) through its purse seine fleet and tuna pole-and-line and Dorado (6.153Tm) with one of the largest small-scale artisanal fleets in the southeastern Pacific.

Global Contributions
The platforms contribute to 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals.
Similarly, the platforms contribute to Aichi’s goals of biological conservation for biodiversity.

National Contributions
The implementation of the project is framed in the fulfillment of the National Development Plan 2017 – 2021.



The project is implemented by the governments of Costa Rica, Ecuador, Indonesia, and the Philippines, with technical support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), facilitated by the NGO “Sustainable Fisheries Partnership” (SFP) and financed by the “Global Environment Facility” (GEF).
The project contributes to the transformation of the seafood market by incorporating sustainability into the supply chain of fishery products from developing countries.
